Online Lessons Start Date:  November 1, 2017 (4 months)

Inspired by the drawings of William Morris, "Kelmscott" is a study in colour and texture using common and some not-so-common canvas stitches.  Interesting overdyes and other speciality fibres such as silk and velvet bring this piece to life.  Exciting stitches include Bound Cross, Houndstooth Cross and Triple Cross and embroidery techniques such as Couching and Blackwork are taught in this enjoyable class.  As this is a small piece, students are encouraged to kit the piece from their stash.  The teacher is available to help with colour choices and substitutions.

Skill Level:  Beginner - Basic knowledge of Canvaswork is an asset

Guidelines for Student Levels


Beginner students need guidance in reading stitch patterns or are new to the technique.

Intermediate students understand stitch patterns but may need guidance; have taken this technique or similar one at the beginner or basic level; have a beginning understanding of colour and design.

Advanced students read charts and stitch diagrams with ease, have a good understanding of stitch technique; have good understanding of colour and design. Must have taken an intermediate level course in the technique. Must be able to work independently.
